BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - Jabatan Siasatan Kawalan Lalu Lintas, Polis Diraja Brunei kerap menjalankan operasi rutin dan bersepadu menguatkuasakan undang-undang dan peraturan lalu lintas dalam usaha mengurangkan kadar kemalangan jalan raya di negara ini.
Bagaimanapun, baru-baru ini timbul satu lagi gejala sosial dipanggil "drift," yang jika tidak ditangani dengan sewajarnya, boleh membawa kepada masalah yang lebih rumit.
Dengan keadaan kereta yang telah diubah suai, pemandunya ghairah memusing-musingkan kereta dan mempamerkan aksi berani mereka itu untuk tontonan ramai.
Salah sebuah tempat yang menjadi lokasi aksi seperti ini ialah tanah lapang di lebuh raya Muara berhampiran pusingan U Kampung Lambak Kiri Rakyat Jati.
Menurut saksi, aksi sebegini sering dilakukan pada waktu siang kira-kira jam 4.45 petang.
Katanya, hampir setiap malam akan ada pemandu berani yang mempamerkan aksi "drift" mereka di situ iaitu pada tengah malam ketika penduduk sedang tidur. Penduduk di kawasan berhampiran menyatakan rasa kesal dan marah dengan aksi segelintir pemandu aksi ini kerana mencetuskan bunyi bising dari enjin kereta yang mengganggu tidur mereka.
Sehubungan itu, mereka berharap pihak berkuasa mengambil tindakan membendung gejala "drift" ini daripada terus berleluasa.

I think brunei is too conservative. I mean, if we do it here, we disturb the country but if we go to overseas and win the drift competition. Brunei BB o Media Pertama will say "Brunei very own drifter win national competition".
helo everyone..seems to be a controversy over this gejala sosial..look, im pretty sure that by just passing innocently, or parking in groups, convoys and all sort of activities.Actually this is a sportsman activity. A gathering, meeting friends and new members, organising such activity hasnt been the worst i would say.
But again we're always been the victims when it comes to these sort of engagement..some others dont like to see these, as if this has been a disturbing to the public or relevant authority.
I wouldnt say that im correct or wrong, but im sure some of you car enthusiast will agree on these..
Please correct me if im wrong, its just an opinion for all..and if anyone of you can sort out, then we all through the car organisation club in brunei would surely support on how to overcome the situation.

Even i'm not interest on drift, but why in Brunei still no green lights for all of local racers n modification.. I'm the 1 of drag racer.. So why there is no drag racing which held at Stadium past 3 n 4 years ago? Why it's been ban? So we all drag n drifter can unite 2 make 1 of proposal 2 send 2 gov to open new site for all modification vehicle activity? So? R u agreed o nt?

im not following this drift stuff but yg d hairankan.. why drift was labelled as "gejala social". it didnt involed any "SOCIAL".. its all about passion.. so if bising, i agree wish punya suggestion.. provide a proper place. =) anyway for anynomous, cali wa u diffrenciate normal user and drifters cars.. hehe mayb some ada yg catu but then dun judge "ALL".. u'll never know esok esok ur "peredian" turn to b a drifter. im a normal car user too but ada jua yg angkat bahu and cucuk cucuk.. d problem here is, u r too concern... terlalu anti. dat is y org angkat kpala sikit pun u tau.. hihi =) nobody's perfect babe.. =) drifter tu just a human dat have a great car and have money to modified thier engine (which non of our business. its thier money and they do whatever they want), and have a passion to made those circle or 8 shape on d road. other then that, durang makan nasi n work like normal people. so actually u r trying to menegur attitude of some bruneian but u label em as "DRIFTERS".i dunno y. mana lah tau jelousy etcetc hehe.. ;)

im an one of a sport car owner, and believe me i met new friends!!...plus...orang yang ubahsuai kereta ani occupation nya bukan CALANG CALANG! and with higher qualifications!!ada BSP, and other officers arah government,bla bla bla and to name a few!!!.kalah jua gaji c mike atu!!mun ganya reporter...duiiiiii..hahahahaha....
